Independent creative technology
Complexity, given form.
Media Bishop is the independent creative technology studio of Marshall Bishop. It connects websites, digital products, imagery and physical craft: design, code, image and object, for ideas that refuse to stay in one lane.
Complexity, given form
The studio's work starts with something complicated, an options chain, a code change that touches a whole application, a trading discipline, a landscape, a product, and gives it a form people can see, hold and use.
That can be a full-stack product, a developer tool, a trading strategy, a free creative utility or a brand with physical goods. Each is the work of Marshall Bishop, from the first sketch to the shipped product.
Selected work
The five projects featured on mediabishop.com show the range of the studio:
- Options Hunter: An options analysis product that places a trade on a 3D implied volatility surface, explains its risks and stress-tests it before you commit.
- Injext: A prototype developer tool that applies defined code changes, like adding authentication, through inspectable plans, reusable templates and rollback.
- Scalper's Paradise: A futures trading strategy and indicator designed by Marshall Bishop: patience, a qualifying trigger, a split position and a cloud-based defensive trail.
- FreeTopoMaps: A free tool for turning topography into contour line art and SVG assets for designers, makers and laser engraving.
- Cupow!: A brand of laser-engraved tumblers and products, from identity and engraving artwork to the online store.
What the studio does
- Product design and full-stack web development
- Interactive 3D and WebGL experiences
- Developer tools and software architecture
- Trading tools, data visualization and indicator design
- Brand identity, engraving artwork and physical products
- E-commerce and the systems behind it
How this site is built
mediabishop.com is itself a piece of the work. The homepage is a real-time 3D stage built with Three.js: the five projects stand as interactive worlds on a reflective floor under a moving spotlight, with soft shadows, depth of field and particle streams that carry matter from one world to the next. Holding a world charges a portal, and releasing it flies the camera inside, where each project tells its story in a sequence of animated beats.
The models are authored in Blender, the materials are written as custom shaders, and every exhibit is driven by the same data it describes, from the Options Hunter decision engine to the Injext captured run and the FreeTopoMaps height field.
Work together
Media Bishop takes on projects that need design and engineering in the same hands. Start a project through the form at mediabishop.com/work-with-me, or write to [email protected].
